The science of sunlight
I recently listened to a Dr Chatterjee podcast with Roger Seheult. It was an interesting conversation focusing on one of the 8 pillars of health.
If you want to know what these are, it can be the acronym
N-nutrition
E-exercise
W- water
S-sunlight
T-temperature
A-air
R-rest
T-trust
So looking at sunlight, 15-20 minutes a day can have so many benefits. It reduces inflamation, it supports blood sugar regulation, it improves your sleep. It improves the energy output in your cells, your body is that clever that it can move this energy round to other body parts that need it that were not exposed to the light. This functioning can help prevent against diseases such as diabetes, dementia and even cancer.
The sun doesn’t even need to be out, you will still get the benefit on a cloudy day. It also supports other 8 pillars of health with air, exercise and temperature.
It can even be infrared light, Florence Nightingale saw the benefits to her patients all those years ago. She was known as the lady with the lamp as she would ensure he patients would have light, as she identified the more positive outcomes for patients who received this.
I appreciate you may think I don’t have a spare 20 minutes, could you add it to something you already do? Could you adjust something you do, by doing it outside? Or swap something, do you spend 20 minutes reading the news online, how about going outside instead?
These are suggestions, if you want to really make this change then get in touch. I will meet you were you are, understanding you and your life and see what areas of your life you’d like to make an improvement and help you come up with achievable actions to complete this.
I look forward to speaking to you soon.
